We Clean The Air You Breathe
Sanitizair (Pty) Ltd was established by Dustin Naude and Stewart Howard during the COVID-19 lockdown in early 2020. Both gentlemen manage independent companies specializing in the air ventilation industry, boasting a combined experience of over 40 years.
Amid the peak of the pandemic, hospitals faced immense pressure to create sanitized bed spaces. In response to this need, Sanitizair was approached to devise a solution. Collaborating with a university in the USA, the partners developed an Air Purification Unit (APU) leveraging existing UV-C, Ozone, and HEPA filter technology. This APU facilitated up to 6 air changes per hour, effectively eliminating all airborne pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses such as COVID-19.
The success of the APU was evident in hospitals, where it significantly enhanced air quality, reduced contaminants, and improved ward turnaround times. Consequently, the product is now deployed across hospitals all over South Africa. Corporate demand for technologies ensuring safer environments for staff and customers surged. Standard Bank, recognizing the product's efficacy, rolled it out to 30 branches, with plans for further expansion. The product's versatility spans diverse commercial sectors, including hospitals, clinics, shopping malls, offices, retail spaces, cinemas, schools, mines, and public transport.
However, some applications faced challenges over the past year, such as the need for a solution in underground mines. High dust content and extreme environmental conditions posed limitations on the effectiveness of UV-C lamps and filters. To address this, Sanitizair consulted extensively with their network in the USA and Europe, ultimately opting for Micro Electrostatic Precipitation (MESP) Technology. MESP, elaborated on later, emerged as a cleaner, more effective, and maintenance-friendly solution, offering better value for money compared to the UV-C/HEPA filter option.
This technology shift was communicated to Sanitizair's existing and potential customer base, resulting in unanimous support for transitioning to MESP. As a result, Sanitizair secured a sole agency agreement with the International patent owners, making the product available in Africa.
We are thrilled to be the first South African company to provide internationally-certified MESP technology. With confidence and commitment, Sanitizair continues to strive to be at the forefront of the purified air industry, benefiting all Africans.
